My dearest muse,
I am a humble speck, in a universe containing so many splendors. Might I call upon you to waft some of that in my direction?
May you be generous towards me. May you rekindle my soul that has recently shriveled and remind it of the spark of life that it has forgotten how to embody. I admit my heart has been fickle, swinging between roaring passion and gray nihilism. But I know you are not judgmental, and don’t require a red carpet or an eight-course tasting menu or even sparkling water, tap water will do.
You’re welcome anytime, an open invite to come play, no pressure. Come create, make mood boards, paint, and dance. I am honored to know you, and regret that I haven’t been great at reaching out.
I know that sometimes I just go on my phone, and you don’t like to come over when I do that. I’ll try to do that less.
I promise we don’t have any agenda or assignments. Let’s play!
Inspiration du jour
🍄 Common Side Effects: Big pharma versus narcissistic hippies in a battle to monopolize a magic all healing mushroom. Gripping visuals, and the first five minutes of the pilot had me roaring.
📺 Lazarus: Got hit with this recommendation after finishing the prior, continuing the thread of evil big pharma. By the same guy behind Cowboy Bepop, this one is set in a futuristic society and features a bangin’ soundtrack with Kamasi Washington and Bonobo.
🎧 Britney Spear’s memoir is best enjoyed by audiobook. “The Woman In Me” is both a thrilling and heartbreaking glimpse into Britney’s life. From her time on the Mickey Mouse club alongside Ryan Reynolds and Christina Aguilera, to her battle to claim her agency and end her conservatorship, Britney writes with raw vulnerability. Michelle Williams’ voice acting is also incredible.
🎵 LA LOM: Stands for “Los Angeles League of Musicians”. Groovy tracks to write to.
That’s it for this edition, take care until the next. XOXO JZ
